Console 101
Console, from the French console, is a term with various uses and meanings. The most common is the one that refers to a video game console or video game console, which is the device that executes electronic games contained in compact discs, cartridges, memory cards or other formats.
Video game consoles were born for home use, unlike arcade machines that were installed in public places of entertainment. Home calls are usually connected to the television, although laptops have their own screen, so each company can decide their characteristics with complete freedom.
In the last decade, video game consoles underwent an evolution that turned them into much more than devices capable of running video games; Machines such as Wii U or Xbox 360 allow browsing the Internet, playing movies with various services (such as Netflix or Hulu) and communication between two or more users through video calls.
The first home console developed by Nintendo, known in Japan as the Famicom and the rest of the world as NES (Nintendo Entertainment System or System Nintendo Entertainment) enjoyed unparalleled popularity, which led her to be in two out of every three American homes at the end of the 80s. His arrival in the American continent marked a milestone in the history of videogames, since he managed to end the well-known crisis of 1983.
Since then, the gaming industry scene has changed more than once, but the only company that has remained firm in its path has been Nintendo; it is the only known face, the quintessential innovative company and the mother of video games. With series like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox and Donkey Kong, among many others, he laid the foundations of many of the current genres.
Nintendo consoles are characterized by not following a strict design line; every time a new generation begins, the Japanese colossus unfailingly surprises the world with its revolutionary ideas. It is worth mentioning that this poses a risk that does not always bring the best results. When they introduced their motion-sensing technology, the key to their Wii, many believed that Ninty’s executives had lost their minds, and that that console would mark their downfall.
To everyone’s surprise, and despite being the least powerful console of the three of its generation, it became a sales success impossible to deny. So much so, that you are two opponents made great efforts to imitate her, to try to take away a portion of her massive audience.
The series of frenzied confrontations between the followers of the three most important console manufacturing companies of the moment: Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony is known by the war name of consoles. It is an unfortunate phenomenon, which pits fans in heated discussions, in which respect and compassion have no place: racism and homophobia are among the most widely used weapons on the battlefield.
A sound console, also known as a mixer or mixer, is the machine that receives audio signals and that can modify them (through equalizers, for example) to broadcast them and be reproduced to the public or recorded on some medium.
Another use of the term refers to the device that, whether integrated into a machine or not, contains the instruments that allow its control and operation.
A console can also be a type of furniture. In this case, it is a narrow table whose design allows it to be close to the wall or to the back of a piece of furniture. In general, the console does not have drawers and has a second tabletop immediately to the floor.
Placing lamps or ornaments, supporting glasses in use, keeping keys or using them for writing or having breakfast are some of the functions of a console.
