Since a couple of years, devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher show notifications on the lock screen by default, so just turn on the display of your device you can see if you have new messages and notices from your apps favourite.
This has a great privacy issue, since if anyone around us take our mobile you can see our messages unread with just turn on the screen, as much as we have protected and locked the device with a pattern, fingerprint, PIN, or password. Luckily this has solution.
How to hide notifications with the locked device
Android 6.0 and 5.0 Android
Our Android device allows us to hide the notifications on the lock screen offering two options:
- Not show notifications: It does not directly show notification on the lock screen.
- Hide sensitive notifications: Displays the notification but removing images and messages to protect our privacy.
On the one hand, we can Hide notifications for all applications on the lock screen, so you have to configure the device in the following way:
5.0 Android and Android 6.0:
- Go to Settings > sound and notifications.
- Click Device locked.
- Select the desired option.
Android 7.0 and higher
In Android 7.0 or higher:
- Go to Settings > notifications.
- Click Advanced settings (gear icon).
- Click On lock screen.
- Select the desired option.
Android 6.0 and 5.0 Android
On the other hand, we can Hide notifications of certain applications, and for that we need to follow the following steps:
5.0 Android and Android 6.0:
- Go to Settings > sound and notifications.
- Click Notifications of applications.
- Select an application.
- Activate the option Hide confidential content.
Android 7.0 and higher
In Android 7.0 or higher:
- Go to Settings > notifications.
- Select an application.
- Click On lock screen.
- Select the desired option.
In this way will already be hidden notifications and messages that we do not want that you can see from the lock screen. From the list of notifications of applications it can press on the “All applications” date to filter by blocked, silenced, priority notifications, hidden on the lock screen and no sensitive data to see which applications are showing their notifications in each case.
Finally, I show you in the following screenshots how the lock screen shows a complete notification and a notification with sensitive content hidden. When the sensitive content is hidden we cease to see who sent the message, their profile picture and the text of the message.
